Irish Blog Awards 2006 – Final details

So far about 160 people have registered to attend this event so it should be a full house on the night if you all turn up. The event takes place in the Alexander hotel on March 11th and starts sharp(ish) at 7pm. Directions for the hotel.

The Ireland Vs Scotland rugby match is also on the 11th so if you are driving to this event, remember traffic might be a little bit heavier.

The room is fully seated, there are no tables. I believe the room will have a bar or else there’s one just around the corner from the room.

The entrance fee to this event is €5. You will be asked to register and include your name and blog (if you have one) and be given a nametag (optional). Registration happens from 6.40pm onwards. You’ll also be given a ticket and this will be used to enter you into draws for the various spot prizes that will be given away on the night.

We’ll have photographers present to take pictures of yourself and your guests and these will be uploaded to the website. If you are camera-shy then we won’t take your picture if you don’t want us to. There’s no strict dress code for the event but many seem to be going smart casual.

There will be wireless Internet available on the night but the hotel charges per person. Cards will be available from the Hotel reception area. We will have electrical points available but if you are bringing a laptop, perhaps bring a long lead along with you too.

The running order for the Awards are:

* Best Fictional Piece in a Blog
* Best Comment/Commenter
* Best Technology Blog/Blogger

* Best Use of the Irish Language in a Blog
* Best Political Blog
* Most Humorous Post

* Best Arts and Culture Blog
* Best Group Blog
* Best Photo Blog

* Best Personal Blog
* Best Contribution to the Irish Bloggersphere (Tech wise)
* Best Blog Post
* Best Blogger

There are two events happening before the Awards. One is a tech event and one is cocktails drinkathon.

I’ll be mostly offline from 7am tomorrow.

    So who won?

    Given all the potential for mobi-blogging and wireless access at the event, no one seems to have got around yet to publishing a list of winners!

    Should we expect slurred speech in the next few postings on most Irish blogs?!
