Feck it, not nominated this year but coming anyway.

    Looking forward to it!

  7. Steve Rawson says:

How are you supposed to know if you have a seat or not?

I registered and would have assumed, wrongly obviously, that registration would book a seat.

Maybe the software did not register me?

So who is on this Anglo Irish Blog Awards list or is it a ‘hush hush’ Bloggen Circle?

    Steve Rawson

  8. Damien says:

Steve: When you registered there were seats. Had you taken the time out to see the registration page now instead of having a go you’d see it relays the message that a seat is not guaranteed at this stage.

If you have an issue with the Awards, as you seem to by comparing it to a dodgy bank, don’t come. Cite ethical reasons. Plenty are gunning for your seat.

  9. Steve Rawson says:

    Damien,

On the contrary, I am travelling from Dublin and looking forward to the evening.

I think the Awards are a great idea. May be a case of ‘one man’s sense of humour is another …..etc…….’

    PS
Of course, for an auld fella like me I sincerely hope I can get a seat.

  11. Tommy says:

    @TheChrisD

    My thoughts exactly. Foiled!

  12. Sharon says:

TheChrisD & Tommy, well you could come in costume…Mario and Luigi perhaps? I’ve got an outfit that looks like I’ve come from the set of Logan’s Run.

(Though I’d be dead on that being too old and all.)

Anyway, looking forward to the night. Wheee!

  13. Aidan says:

So do I, but the iron will never get these feckin wrinkles out.

  19. If anyone wants to sit on my lap I’m totally down with that…

  20. John Self says:

I’m sorry I can’t make it tonight as it sounds as though it will be a great bash.

    Good luck everyone!

  21. Klara McDonnell says:

    yay sounds great

  22. Have a fabulous time, everyone! Wish I could be there this year

Half my Irish blog pals seem to be competing in the same categories, so to hell in a leather welly with it – good luck to yooz all! I wouldn’t like to be having to do the judging. Having said that, that gimmeaminute is not in the best post category is a travesty. I’m really struggling to know how that could have happened if posts were judged on quality of writing. That was a fine post, well worthy of the shortlist.

At any rate, it’s a great chance for bloggers to get together and cut loose for a night. have fun, yizall!

  23. Ann Donnelly says:

What I loved about the Irish Blog Awards ’09:
    – It was in Cork, so a good chance for me to make my debut
    – Great venue: plenty of parking, interesting decor, good facilities (wished I could’ve stayed over for the after party and morning after experience)
    – Even though there was a ‘panic’ about how many could attend and who would get seats, there was room for all.
    – The finger foods were great (I hadn’t eaten since breakfast, so this was particularly important) as was the open bar before the ceremony.
    – The ceremony was laid back but still organised and very entertaining. With excellent sound and videos.
    – @rickoshea is leg
    – It highlights the fact that there is a number of interesting well written and creatively designed Irish blogs on a wide variety of topics. I hadn’t actually visited most of the final nominees sites, but definitely will check them out now. It’s also inspired me to do more with my own blogs!
    – The Irish blogging community is so diverse; full of really great people who are (with only a few exceptions, you know who you are) very interesting, friendly and generous with their time for newbies — and just great craic!! (I say this as someone who has become fed up with most organisations I’ve been involved with because the opposite is usually the case!) I don’t know whether this is because Damien is leading in this way or that he is just a reflection of the community that he is such a big part of.

    Thanks Damien!!!
