An Irish Bebo Award – I kid you not

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

Bebo

Not as loved as they much as they should be, I’ve decided to have an award (but not an Irish Blog Award) for the Best Irish Bebo profile. Prize(s) not decided upon yet but probably vouchers of some sort. More details on the Bebo profile for the Awards. Just waiting on a certain web programmer to sort me out with some voting scripts and I can get the Bebo competition launched.

Sponsorship Opportunities for 2007 Awards

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

All categories for the 2007 Blog Awards are now sponsored. There are however a few more areas that can be sponsored including catering sponsorship. If you are interested in sponsorship opportunities ranging from 500 euros to 3000 euros then send an email to irishawards < at > gmail.com. If you want to be put on the waiting list for 2008 events, please also email and say this.

What sponsors get in return

For the nomination and voting rounds your name will be on the nomination and voting page associating your name with the category in question.

Your name and logo will be on the sponsors page. The sponsors for 2007 will be displayed on the site until the next blog awards buildup.

On the night of the event your or your representative will be pictured with the award winner for the category that you sponsored. You or your representative will be on the left of the photo.

You’ll probably get a lot of thanks from some very happy bloggers who’ll enjoy their night in nice surroundings and who while there will be given some very nice food.

Finally, I will also provide a comment for you if you wish to release a press release or mailshot to clients about your sponsorship of a blog award category.

and the 2007 categories are…

Friday, December 8th, 2006

21 categories. That’s big enough for this year. Pointless getting too big too quickly. Two old ones dropped – “Comment” and “Fictional Piece” and a few new ones added. To get a category I decided to see could there be at least 12 nominees per category and if not, then no dedicated cateogry. However a new category for specialist blogs has been created for those that want inclusion for their Best Yellow Banjo blog etc. We’ll be taking a gamble with Videocast. How many videocasts have been stuck on Irish blogs? Hopefully the Votetube project will help that along. Two podcast categories. Best Podcast which is for the best single podcast. I’m sure this is going to be a tough one to judge. Then Best Podcaster which will consider the whole body of work from a Podcaster/Podcasting Group.

So get thinking who you’d like to nominate for these categories. More news about the sponsorship structure and the nomination process to follow. Nominations are not open just yet.

New Blogs on the Block – December 4th 2006

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Thomas Holmes and his bro have launched a new blog called Yclick.it. The blurb states:

A blog that looks at how websites are designed to persuade visitors to become customers. It’s updated weekly with screenshots and thoughts on how language, colour, contrast, positioning all play their part in getting those all important clicks

Gerry O’Sullivan has a new home on the web. Love the name: UnLaoised.

A business blog I only found recently: The Voicesage blog.

The blog for GOV 230-002 section’s Mock Irish Parliament. And the companion blog.

Gary Piggot’s blog.
