09 Realex Irish Web Awards – Raw nominations list

September 7th, 2009

Apart from one or two exceptions we have not removed any sites from any of the nomination lists even if they are obviously not right for some of the categories they’re in. This is what the public decided and how they nominated. In round 2 of judging sites that do not fit the category they were nominated in will find themselves removed.

An Suíomh Gaeilge is Fear, Best Practice, Best Irish Facebook App and Social Media Campaign will be listed in the next few days.

Here are the nominated sites, congrats if you were nominated. Why not thank the sponsors for their help up to now and maybe also congratulate those also nominated in your category.

*(If you have nominated a site and did not get a confirmation email, please check your spam filters for emails from awards.ie)

Care about the Web? Why not judge the 09 Web Awards?

August 30th, 2009

You don’t have to be a developer or designer or business person to judge websites. You just have to like the web and want to highlight good sites and amazing talent. Want to? Apply to become a Web Awards judge.

Friday 6pm is the closing date for 2009 Realex Irish Web Awards

August 26th, 2009

If you’ve not done so yet, you still have a few days to get nominating your favourite websites for the Realex Irish Web Awards. Many site owners have issues with nominating themselves. The trouble is others sometimes assume that your site has already been nominated. Nominate it yourself or encourage your users to do so. Be proud, not shy.

We’ll be opening up a form where the general public can sign up to be judges for the Awards too. This will go live before Friday.

The Social Media category will also have a special form added later this week and the closing date for nominations will be mid-September. Watch out for that!

Realex Payments are headline sponsors for 2009

Realex Payments

Many thanks to Realex Payments who approached us months back asking to be headline sponsors for the 2009 Irish Web Awards.  We hope to improve in our second year and there’ll be some changes with the categories. The scorecard will be changed slightly too and is still going to be public and this year the aggregated scores for websites entered will be made public too.

Naturally, we’re on Twitter too. A few competitions and announcements to be communicated in the next few days and weeks.

Web Awards Trophies pic by Rick O'Shea

I’m going to be putting in an order for more Web Awards trophies with the trophy maker in the next few days. It seems some people broke or had their Web Awards trophies broken on them and other people want copies of them as both the designers and website owners want to keep the lovely bits of glass. Trophies cost about €70 each or thereabouts.

If you want to order trophies then email contact < at > awards.ie with details of the trophy you want.
