Help Wanted – Few things needed

Monday, January 16th, 2006

If anyone can help out with the following I’d appreciate it.
1) Laptop for the event
2) Overhead Projector. (I might change my mind about using it at last min)
3) Sound expert (if we need a soundsystem to be rigged up).
4) Someone willing to set up podcasting for the event.
5) Anyone willing to put together an E-Book containing excerpts from the blogs of those that are shortlisted.
6) Anyone that is into marketing and wants to give away wine to bloggers. *cough* 🙂 Worth a try!
Edited to add:
7) Cheesecake.

I may add more to this list as I go on.

Magic Numbers – Chicken and Egg

Monday, January 16th, 2006

EDIT: Fixed really bad typo. Email addy is: irishawards (at) gmail.com

This is very chicken and egg but I need numbers to book a room but people like to know precise dates and times before they can commit. So, I’m going to throw out two dates and see what you think. Saturdays are always good. It will be in Dublin too as it has a greater catchment area.

How’s Saturday Feb 25th or Saturday March 4th for people to attend? Working on two venues at the moment and hoping to hear back with provisionals.

If you can go let me know at which date is suitable and please drag some people with you too so we can have a good laugh. Let me know and how many will be in your group by leaving a comment below or just emailing irishAwards (at) gmail.com

Next on the to-do list is looking after sponsorship, so don’t ask me about it yet. I will also send out a help wanted list.

If you wish to nominate yourself or someone else then you can email irishawards (at) gmail.com with a link to the blog and/or the post you want to nominate and for which category. No, there’s no automated process to do this yet. I’ve asked before and tumbleweed flew past. I need someone to write a few forms for me, which will automate the process. Anyone want to do so?

How this will work is the nomination process will be open for a few weeks. Anyone can nominate anyone, including themselves. We will sift through all the nominations and create a short-list for each category based on number of nominations as well as quality. We will ask people then to vote on their favourites from the short-list and then based on the number of votes and other factors, again such as quality of the blog/posts, the judges will pick a winner.

Here too are some of the things I want to do for the awards:

If someone wants to create a little button with a “Blog Awards Nominee” and some HTML code linking to this site, then work away but it is not mandatory to link back to here.

I would like to create an e-book of all the short-listed posst and host it on the server here. Maybe encourage everyone to host it too. This e-book would in a way be a testimony to non-bloggers. “This is what we do and look at how well we do it”.

No event decided yet. No prizes. No final date. While we don’t necessarily need them, I do want to go drinking with you all and celebrate! I’m around Dublin this weekend so I shall scout a few locations.
