Nominations are now open for the 2009 Irish Blog Awards. Nominations close at 6pm on January 14th.
Best Designed Blog and Best Arts and Crafts Blog and Most Humorous Post have been axed. Best Fashion Blog has been added and Best Humour Blog. Best Blog is now the Grand Prix and you cannot nominate a blog directly for this, it needs to have won in one of the other categories to get through.
There are never enough categories to keep everyone happy but there is finite time at the event so what we’ll be doing is having an online vote for categories that won’t make the ceremony but are worthy of attention anyway. Suggestions for these categories are welcome and voting will take place at the start of February with the winners of these announced online Wednesday the 18th of February during “Irish Blog Week”.
Have fun nominating. Choose wisely.
Why no more “most humorous post”?
I always liked that one.
ha “irish blog week” 🙂
When do nominations close?
A whole week!
Whaaaa! I’m only booked in for one night!
@Alan D’oh. Post updated. January 14th is closing date.
It’s crazy that you can’t nominate a blog in more than one category. Blogs don’t stick to Award categories.
“An Irish blog started by someone after March 15th 2008, that has been actively maintained until at least December 15th 2008.”
niiiiiiice, not gonna even pretend that doesn’t annoy me.
is this a preliminary thing for the final nominations or the whole whammy in one?
I just voted in a few categories and then went back to vote some others in other categories – not in the same categories – but I wasn’t allowed.. If I vote again in the other categories using a different email address, will my first vote be spoiled?
I’d Like to nominate Sharon at:-

pop along and take a peek, sorry I’m not able to make it into a link.
Cheers
where is there a list of all Irish blogs?
Will a nomination form be disqualified if the same blog is nominated in one category and again for Best Blog Post?
Annie,
You can check the archives for the last couple of years where you’ll find previous long lists. But there must be thousands of Irish blogs. Lot’s of new ones come on line every week.
Really the emphasis is upon those of us so moved to go out and find the ones we like, and give Damien and his panel have something to work with.
@ B’dum: ditto, real niiiiice.
Nominations done, and linkage provided.
http://www.irishblogs.ie/ is probably the biggest directory of Irish blogs….
What happens during ‘Irish Blog Week’?
Hi Damien, How might one go about sponsoring an award category? I’d really appreciate any information you can send me.
Many thanks,
Orlaith
