Prizes and Sponsorship

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005

Anyone want to suggest prizes that can be given? Genuine replies please!

I was thinking for some of the lesser prizes, things like a years subscription to the Irish Times Online or Tribune.ie, with possibly maybe an iPod for the big prize. (If the cash is there for it.)

Also, the room won’t be free or the rental for an audio-video equipment that we need, so anyone know of a crowd that can sponsor us?

A few things about sponsorship though. The event will be called the Irish Blog Awards, not the Sponsorname Irish Blog Awards. I would like to retain the purity of the name. Do people think that it is ok for categories to be sponsored? (That is if we can get sponsors for each category)

Nomination process

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005

Taking a cue from the Netvisionary Awards, we’ll create categories and anyone can submit themselves or their favourite bloggers to these sections. Then we will allow voting on the categories. Then finally with the votes these will get whittled down to 4-5 per category and our judges will then decide on the best. I think judges deciding the winner would be fairer than a popularity contest.

Judges have not been announced yet, they want to set up their paypal accounts first. Oh, I was meant to leave that bit out was I?

I’ll stick up a draft list of categories tomorrow, and allow people to comment over the weekend and then the final version will be released on Monday. Sound fair?
