Nominations for 2008 Blog Awards are now open

Go here to nominate your favourite bloggers. You do not have to fill in the form for every category. Just the ones you think you have a suitable blog for. Good luck to everyone.

There are two judging rounds this year, so every nominated blog will be judged. No public vote means it is about quality, not the number of people who like you. Any nomination that nominates a blog for every category will be treated as spam and that nomination will be deleted. Choose wisely.

Now its about quality ? for fucks sake I’ll never win, can ya not make it about sexiness ?

  2. Has podcasting been dropped in favour of a blog-only focus?

  3. Damien says:

The Web Awards will cover podcasting, videos, websites and web applications. Coming soon etc. etc. 🙂

Hurrah, no more public vote. Cos lets face it, the general public don’t know what they hell they want or like from one minute to the next.

  5. Rick says:

All up for the lack of public vote nonsense. That’s going to mean an awful lot of judges though Mr Mulley 🙂

  6. Garreth says:

Blog viewers have their favourite sites and web hosts have their supporting coteries. It’s easy for big coteries to support something because of personalities rather than quality and substance. Is there any way the panel of judges could devise a weighting system to counteract cronyism in the voting method? Can a panel of judges surf the Irish net and find sites that have not been nominated but which possess meritorious characteristics like design, user-friendliness, useful service to felt community needs, or interesting/original information or opinion?

An excellent idea that I felt needed to be seconded.

As long as it doesn’t turn into a I’m more Irish than you to be sure to be sure competition or the rules on what and who is Irish has to be more defined. Do the judges shit shamrocks and spit on pictures of the Queen everyday? Do people born on the Emerald isle have to be from the south and not the north to be considered? Does having a more worldly wise, international view count as a draw back? The Interweb can no longer be defined as boundaries of a country, Irish are everywhere in this big wide world. Just doing what I can for unity and the peace process as only an Old Bitter Balls can.
