Tamas,
I've just read your comment, days after you posted it. I had to look up Celje: Slovenia. So I'm glad you wrote in.
I think I share your impression that there is a lot of in-joking among Irish bloggers. Maybe that's a trait of all blogging cultures?
Self promoting too: I guess you are by definition an exhibitionist if you blog. Maybe the self promoting is a form of humour and isn't meant to be taken seriously. If it is serious, it must be a waste of time.
I don't think you gain any respect in the wider community if you blog: most non-blogging people probably think you must have too much time on your hands if you blog. Maybe they think all bloggers are frivolous?

But it sounds as if the writing, its tone and content has put some Slovenian people off. Please say more. I'd love to have some 'offending' contributions highlighted so that we could learn from the reaction of the audience. After all, you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Best wishes from Cork.

I enjoyed chatting with some locals here in Celje. They wondered at how great it was to have such awards. but then they visited the site and found that it seemed like some sort of injoke with a small group of people selfpromoting.

All my readers in Kazakhstan & Turkmenistan have had ISP problems: none of their votes got through. I've always gone down well with oil workers.

As you can see, there were no votes from Oman. Given that Omaniblog is the official blogger-in-residence (posted abroad), I leave it to you dear reader to draw your own conclusions.
